THE MAKING OF JUDAS
Judas lives in the Rocky Mountains of British Columbia. He roams freely with a small band of mares. He is a brave leader but with a gentle, kindred spirit. Enjoying a quiet afternoon, he gazes over his homeland admiring the beauty of the landscape. Belly full in the soft breeze, he is content. Peaceful. A beautiful soul. He pauses in this moment, present.
Judas started from humble beginnings, a homage to my own beginnings in this hobby. Inspired closely from Finnigan, the first Traditional custom I made in 2018. He is a true testament to how far this journey has taken me. Both in terms of sculpting and colour theory, this is my dream, realized. He stands quietly, taking a breath.
A moment of stillness. Breathe with him. Be present. Everything will be okay. Judas was crafted from a pile of necks, tails, a dime, a Stablemate & a broken drill bit.... Since I can not enter the contest officially, I bent the rules a bit and chose to challenge myself. These were not just any necks and tails though, they were the leftovers of Denali, Odyssey & Tallulah. One of those Idocus tails belonged to Finnigan too! The name Judas means betrayal. I cannot believe I was able to pull this project off. He was a labor of love. Learning to sculpt has been anything but easy, but I am starting to see the payoff now. Follow you heart and all your dumb and crazy ideas, I promise it will be worth it!
