PROJECTS
I have always enjoyed taking on projects. Here are some of the major art related ones.
THE DANCE
|
Each drawing is done in charcoal with graphite detailing on 19x24" Bristol Board. This trio of drawings show the interaction of horse and human. The use of a horse in comparison to a dancer is to show a juxtaposition in beauty, grace and power. Both of these subjects also convey the ability to speak without words. My personal fascination with horses and the need for practice with the human figure led me to create these works. The use of charcoal creates a bold image that is very high in contrast. They are displayed in a row to be viewed from left to right, showing the progression of communication. The conventional ways for training and working with animals often relies on control and doesn’t engage in a mutual partnership. These works are meant to express, that an even more magical experience can occur if we step back and let the animals act under their own account.

BEASTS OF THE MODERN WORLD
Beasts of the Modern World was a project I took on over the course of 2016. I started in February and finished in November. In this series of drawings, I wanted to explore human portraiture, in conjunction with the animal bond. I picked four regions, their corresponding colour/ design to incorporate into each piece. I wanted to define what beauty is in relation to the modern world versus the natural world.

EYE
The fascination with drawing in a series continues. The eyes are the gateway to the soul, and they can emphasize so much character in a single gaze. Using only charcoal and Sharpie markers, these 6 drawings were meant to explore a creative freedom in use of material and colour.
THE OASIS HERD
I have always drawn horses, even at a very young age. Along with that I have created several characters that embody who I am as a person and help me express my utmost feelings. I took it upon myself to draw all 17 of theses characters in a completed, coloured form within 2015. Each horse took approximately 8-10 hours to complete, and they are done on card stock, lined in ink and coloured with Prismacolour pencil crayon.

OLDFALL COMIC PAGES
Working with Writing student, Bre Fischer, I was assigned to conceptualize and create 4 comic pages of her apocalyptic story "Oldfall". The concept art was done in pencil on paper, the comic pages were drawn on paper, scanned and coloured in Photoshop.
