Tallulah started as a small idea and sketch back in 2021 in conjunction with Denali.
I proceeded with Denali that year for my official entry because he felt more 'me'. When I decided to tackle this project, it formed into something much more magical than I could have ever imagined. I started the sculpture without a clear plan of how to achieve the dragonflies even though they are the most integral feature in the design. After hours of brainstorming, I remembered my Dad is an avid fly fisherman and fly tier... He makes miniature bugs all the time! He was really excited to help as he is not generally labelled artistic. Suddenly this fostered the idea to make the piece a love letter to all the people closest to my heart. These are the memories I will cherish forever. Love Dad, for the perfect dragonflies. Love Mom, for the wildflowers. Love Husband, for the grass base. Love Brother, for the handwritten plaque. And Love, soul sister for the name. This sculpture proves that every piece you create with your own two hands will always be YOU enough. We all have a piece of creativity inside of us, even if we are not labelled as an artist. When we join together we can create even braver, bigger and bolder things. It will always be you, me, your family, your life, your loves combined into a beautiful masterpiece. That masterpiece for me, is Tallulah.
