I wasn’t finished.
I wanted another shot. After my debut with the best custom contest and Denali, I was left accomplished, yet slightly defeated. I was inspired to continue onwards in creating yet another piece to battle against the best of the best. I know, deep down inside, I have it in me. I have what it takes to create a piece so moving, that the judges must pin first. This feeling is what drives me forward. I want to be ‘remembered.’ A couple of weeks after Breyerfest 2021, I started my next piece. He would be ‘extreme’ and ‘unique’. Another horse that would represent my being and journey. A horse I used to imagine in my mind and not believe possible. 6 months of tireless work and I came to the end of February almost complete. I was nearly finished when the contest rules changed yet again, and now I’m left here with ‘Odyssey’. A dream that will never be realized. An unknown. I am left without participation in the contest and to share him with the world prematurely. Perhaps that is what he was meant to be for me and he wouldn’t be my winner anyways. I will not quit now. I know my time will come. I will sculpt and create every year like it’s the best custom contest, and know that I will one day be the very best in the world. Even if that world is my own. I am not finished. I want another shot. This is my Odyssey.
